Common Questions
Medicare Plan Review Questions
When can I change my Medicare plan?
The Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) runs October 15 through December 7 each year. During this time, you can switch Medicare Advantage plans, change Part D drug plans, or move between Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage. Changes take effect January 1. There’s also an Open Enrollment Period (January 1-March 31) for Medicare Advantage members to make one change.
Can I switch from Medicare Advantage back to Original Medicare?
Yes, during the Annual Enrollment Period you can drop your Medicare Advantage plan and return to Original Medicare. However, if you want a Medigap (Supplement) policy, you may need to answer health questions and could be denied or charged more unless you have a guaranteed issue right. We can help you understand your specific options.
Will I lose coverage if I switch plans?
No — when you enroll in a new plan during AEP, your current coverage continues through December 31, and your new plan automatically starts January 1. There’s no gap in coverage. We handle all the paperwork to ensure a smooth transition.
How do I know if a better plan is available?
That’s exactly what our free plan review determines. We analyze your current plan against all available options in your area, comparing total costs (including drug costs), benefits, and provider networks. We’ll show you side-by-side comparisons so you can see exactly what’s available.
What if my current plan is still the best option?
Then we’ll tell you! Our job is to find you the best coverage, not to sell you a new plan. If your current plan is optimal for your situation, we’ll confirm that and you can have peace of mind knowing you’re in the right place. There’s never any pressure to switch.
How long does a plan review take?
A typical phone consultation takes 15-30 minutes. We’ll ask about your current plan, medications, doctors, and healthcare needs. Then we’ll research options and present our findings — often in the same call, or we’ll schedule a follow-up if you prefer.
Do I need to have my current plan information ready?
It’s helpful but not required. If you have your plan name and a list of medications, that speeds things up. But we can also look up your information or work with what you know. Just have your Medicare card handy.
Why is your service free?
Insurance companies pay licensed agents like us to help people find and enroll in plans. You pay the exact same premium whether you use our help or enroll directly. Our compensation is the same regardless of which plan you choose, so we have no incentive to push any particular option.
